My HiSmile Experience

Okay, so for ages I have been looking for an affordable, comfortable and safe way to whiten to my teeth. But between tooth sensitivity and jaw problems, I've struggled to find one that doesn't have a huge mouth piece, yucky tasting paste or the usual culprit: makes my teeth hurt! Until now that is...

How do I use it?

I personally use it before I go to work or bed because I know I'm not going to be eating or drinking for a few hours, or at least nothing with strong colours. (I use them everyday once they arrive, I have a month to month subscription so I whiten for two weeks then wait two weeks to go again.)

I suggest attaching the mouthpiece to the LED light before applying the gel, it's a bit tricky otherwise. I'm not sure how much everyone else uses, I've seen reviews where people have used all three gels in 6 applications, but I use 1/4 of gel on the top and bottom, giving me twelve applications. I suppose it doesn't matter though, you're getting the same amount of whitening either way, one's just more gradual.

Anyways, now all you've gotta do is put it in your mouth and press the button. The blue LED light will come on and stay on for 10 minutes, then it will beep and the light will turn itself off. It's seriously sooo effortless! Once you're done, rinse your mouth with some warm water or if you have it, the HiSmile Coconut Whitening Mouthwash and wash the mouthpiece ready for next use. Easy as that!

So how does it work?

Most at-home teeth whitening kits are hydrogen peroxide based, whereas HiSmiles' main active ingredients include sodium bicarbonate (yep, bicarb soda) which basically scrubs the stains rather than bleaching them out.

Both methods are approved by the FDA and HiSmile (being Australian) is also ADA approved. But as I mentioned before, I have used numerous at-home whitening kits, but really struggle to keep a routine going once the sensitivity kicked in. My front teeth would ache, and if I accidentally got any of the gels on my gums it burned. But not with HiSmile!

As I mentioned, I use 1/4 of the gel between my top and bottom teeth leaving me with 12 applications, each one taking 10 minutes, and I've now completed two rounds so I've had the gel on my teeth for 240 minutes of my life so far and never have I felt any pain, tingling, sensitivity, burning on my gums, nothing!

And the results?

Everyone's different so your results may vary, but I have gotten four shades lighter after using 6 gels. My teeth were greyish-yellow before I started using HiSmile, the colour wasn't even on the comparison chart in the kit! It was closest to an 8 and now I'm at a 4 and I am sooo happy. I'm definitely going to continue using this product until I reach my goal white and after that to keep it shining.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants whiter teeth but have experienced any of the symptoms I have described throughout from at-home kits. It works, perhaps not as quick as claimed but everyone's teeth have different stains, so if it's not working for you yet just wait.

Also, if you start getting white spots on your teeth, don't stress! That's just the bicarb sitting on a stubborn stain to remove it. It will go away, especially if you continue to use it, leaving you with beautiful pearly whites!
